This document supplements the Terms of Service. Rankings are entertainment; we award no prizes.
1. What a ranking is
1.1. The Ranking page lists players by number of puzzles solved. The Ranking tab of each game lists players by points in that game. Both cover: day, week (Monday–Sunday), month and all time.
1.2. Only signed-in players take part in the ranking. Results from playing without an account do not enter it.
1.3. The ranking shows the player name and results. It does not show the e-mail, account identifier or first and last name. If a player has no name, the ranking shows a pseudonym “pilot_” plus the start of the account identifier.
2. What counts
2.1. A result verified by the server counts: the server replays the player’s moves and decides itself whether the puzzle was solved. The browser clock and any timing data sent by the browser are irrelevant.
2.2. One game counts once a day. If a game has levels, the best level of the day counts. The first verified result of a puzzle is kept; later attempts do not replace it.
2.3. A result counts for the ranking while the puzzle’s day is still running anywhere on Earth (from UTC+14 to UTC−12). Puzzles solved after that (archive, practice) do not count for the ranking.
3. Points
3.1. A wrong or unfinished puzzle scores 0 points. A solved one scores 1000 points times the tries factor times the speed factor, i.e. 250 to 1000.
3.2. The tries factor is 1 for a solve on the first try and falls evenly to 0.5 on the last allowed try.
3.3. The speed factor is 1 at zero time and falls evenly to 0.5 at the time limit, then stays at 0.5. The limit depends on the number of tries in the game: 120 seconds (up to 3 tries), 180 seconds (4 tries), 300 seconds (5 or more tries). A game played past the limit is not cut off; it just earns no speed points.
3.4. Time is the difference between the moment the server first handed the puzzle to the player and the moment the server first saw the correct answer. Refreshing the page does not reset it. If the server first saw the player mid-game (for example they played signed out and then signed in), there is no trustworthy start and the game gets a speed factor of 0.5.
3.5. In a game’s ranking, points decide the order and, on a tie, the faster time. In the overall ranking the number of puzzles solved counts; ties share a rank and whoever reached the result first is listed first.
4. Fair play
It is prohibited to use bots, scripts and errors in the Service, to submit forged results, to play on several accounts to influence the ranking and to otherwise manipulate results (Terms of Service, section 7). The server rejects results that do not come from a correctly replayed game.
5. Removing results and accounts
5.1. The Provider may remove a result from the ranking or block an account when a result was obtained in breach of section 4 or when a player name breaches the Terms of Service. The Provider gives the user the reasons for deleting an account for a breach (Terms of Service, section 4.7).
5.2. A player can delete their account at any time, together with all results, times and ranking entries (Account → Delete account). On request the Provider can also remove results (iodo@gatecall.pl).
6. Changes to the rules
The points formula and time limits may be changed for important reasons (for example game balance). A change does not apply retroactively to points already awarded. We announce it in the Service and amend the Rankings Rules under the Terms of Service (section 12).
